Andy and Tara Lowry

Tara Lowry

Tara is wife to Andy and mom to Luke, Seth, & Lydia. She is passionate about authentic relationships because we were created for them and lets face it, life is better shared. Four years ago, she and Andy created a family rules sign for their home to serve as a mission statement for their family. Out of that simple DIY project, a business was born. You can find her blogging (occasionally) at Between You and Me, but more often these days, she’s busy working in their sign shop, which you can find at

Snowman-Themed Tree

How tall is your tree?
Our tree is 7 feet tall.

What mix of ornaments did you use for this tree?
Our tree is covered with an eclectic group of ornaments collected over the course of 18 years of marriage and 14 years of parenting. Here’s the story:

When we got married, we started a tradition of surprising one another with an ornament each year. When our children were each born, we decided to continue the tradition with them, so they could have a box full of ornaments to take with them when they start their own families. Each ornament tells a story, and every single one is labeled with the year and the name of the person it belongs to. It’s one of our favorite Christmas traditions.

How many ornaments did you use to achieve this look?
There are easily over 100 ornaments on our tree.

How did you decide on the decorating theme of your tree?
I made a homemade pom-pom garland that utilized approximately 50 pom-poms and was around 10 feet long. The pom-poms are tied to a jute garland.

Is there a story on a signature ornament you’d like to share with us?
Because of our Christmas ornament tradition, we always use the same ornaments on our tree, and I change the look each year with gift wrap and garlands. We prefer an eclectic look! Each of the ornaments tell a story. It takes us forever to decorate our tree each year because we all take turns telling the story of each ornament.

Is there something different you did for this tree that you particularly like?
The pom-pom garland was new to the tree this year. The different colors of yarn that I used tied into the colors in the ornaments and also added an extra touch of color!
