Brown and Gold-Themed tree
What type of Balsam Hill tree do you have and how tall is it?
It is a7.5-foot tall Brewer Spruce tree. This tree was part of Balsam Hill’s 2014 “12 Bloggers of Christmas” series.
What mix of ornaments did you use for this tree?
I try to layer balls close to the trunk area and then relatively space out all of our other ornaments. For this tree, we used a mix of feathers, natural textured balls, sparkly balls, knit mittens and ice skates, and little chalkboard ornaments. We clustered the balls together, usually in groups of three, to have greater impact.
How did you decide on the decorating theme of your tree?
I wanted it to feel cozy and a little bit rustic because it was going in our study, which has that kind of feel, but also have a tiny bit of sparkle, which is the element the balls add.
Is there a story on a signature ornament you’d like to share with us?
I have a special ornament that my husband got me the first Christmas after we got married, and I always find a perfect spot on our tree for it. We also have a nativity set we got this year and a figurine of Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus on a donkey that we make sure to have a special place for.
Is there something different you did for this tree that you particularly like?
I like the way the feathers kind of poke out from the tree and add a softness to it.
